What "closing your account" means today
We are building the tooling to remove and replace the identifying details on a closed profile. Until it ships, we are not going to describe it here as though it already works. When it does, this page will be updated and the change announced in the official UCA Discord.
If total erasure is what you need, that matters more than a workaround we could offer today — say so when you contact staff, and they will tell you honestly where things stand.
Before you start
Closing your account is intended to be permanent. As a matter of policy we do not reverse a closure once it has been carried out, and we will not restore your old profile.
- This is a manual process. A member of staff reads your request, checks a few things, and makes the changes by hand.
- There is no automated queue, and we do not promise a turnaround time.
- Your public player page does not come down. It stays online at the same address, visible to anyone.
- Closing your account does not erase your competitive history. Fixtures, results, standings, and statistics stay on the platform.
- If you manage a club or hold an administrative role, there is a step you must complete first — see below.
- There is no self-service data export. If you want a copy of anything before you go, save it yourself, or ask staff.
If you only want to change your email address or password, you do not need to close your account. Sign in and go to /profile/settings — you can change both there yourself, straight away.
What stays public after closure
This is the part most people want to know, so it comes early. After your account is closed, this is what someone who is not signed in can still see:
- Your player page, at the same address. It stays online and stays public.
- Your gamertag, as the title of that page. It also appears in the preview shown when the page is shared.
- Every gamertag you have used, with the dates you used each one. The full history stays listed.
- Your display name and avatar, your position, platform, status, current or last club, career statistics, and your last 10 matches.
- Your gamertag is also returned by UCA's public search, which anyone can use without signing in, for as long as you are listed as an active player.
We are not going to tell you that a retained gamertag is impersonal. If people know that gamertag, it may still identify you.
How to request closure
There is one channel: the official UCA Discord. Message the staff team privately and tell them you want your account closed. UCA does not operate a support email address, and there is no in-app deletion form.
UCA staff will never contact you about a closure request by email — that conversation only happens on Discord. The only emails you should expect from the platform are automated sign-in ones, such as confirming a change of email address.
When you make your request, it helps to include:
- The display name on your UCA account.
- Your player profile link, if you have a public profile.
- Your current club, if you are on a roster.
- Whether you manage a club or hold any staff role.
You do not need to give a reason. Staff may ask a clarifying question or two, but you are not required to justify the request.
How staff check it is really you
Before staff change anything, they confirm that the person making the request controls the account. This protects you from someone else closing your account or removing you from your club.
- If your account is linked to Discord, staff can match the Discord account making the request against the Discord identity stored on your UCA account.
- If it is not linked, staff will ask you for something that shows you control the account. What they ask for depends on the account, and they will tell you at the time.
Staff will not close an account on a third party's say-so. If they cannot satisfy themselves that the request is genuinely from you, they will not make any changes — that is deliberate. Never share your password with anyone, including anyone claiming to be UCA staff.
Only UCA platform administrators or the commissioner can carry out a closure, and every action they take is recorded in our internal administrative log.
If you manage a club or hold a role
Some responsibilities must be handed over before your account can be closed, because clubs and competitions depend on someone holding them.
- You manage a club. A club needs a manager. Transfer the club to another manager, or agree the club's future with staff, before your account can be closed. Otherwise the roster, fixtures, and results attached to that club are left with nobody able to act on them.
- You hold an administrative or commissioner role. Resign the role, or hand it to another person, first. Administrative accounts are tied to decisions, approvals, and dispute handling across live competitions.
If you are mid-season on an active roster, staff may ask you about timing so a scheduled fixture is not disrupted. Staff will tell you what is outstanding when you open the request.
What closure actually does
What happens
- You can no longer sign in. UCA blocks your account from accessing the platform. Email-and-password sign-in and Discord sign-in both stop working.
- You lose access to anything that needs you to be signed in — the player and club directories, the fixture list, leaderboards, and in-app notifications.
- Password recovery is not available to you afterward.
What does not happen
- Your information is not erased. Our only removal mechanism marks a record as closed and hides it from parts of the site. The underlying record, including your email address, stays in the database.
- Your sign-in record is not deleted. Access is blocked at the application level rather than the account being destroyed.
- Your display name, avatar, gamertag, gamertag history, and Discord details are not yet removed or replaced. Your public player page continues to show them.
Uploaded images stay retrievable by anyone holding the link. Avatars and club logos live in public storage. Their addresses are long random strings that are hard to guess and are not listed publicly, but the files are not individually protected — anyone who already has a link can still open the image, and we cannot revoke it. Every image is re-encoded and stripped of hidden camera metadata (including location) when uploaded, so that data is not kept with the stored image.
Closing your UCA account has no effect on your Discord account or your EA account. Those belong to those companies, and any data EA holds about your play is outside our control. If you want those changed, deal with Discord and EA directly.
If you want to come back later, you would need to register a new account. It would not inherit your old profile, statistics, or club history.
What we keep, and why
UCA is a competitive league. Past seasons cannot be quietly rewritten because a participant leaves — if a result could be erased on request, every table and title on the platform becomes unreliable.
So the following are kept after your account is closed:
- Fixtures and official match results.
- Standings and season tables.
- Player statistics and per-match performance records, including the EA gamertag recorded against each match.
- Dispute records, the notes attached to them, and their outcomes.
- Internal records of administrative actions.
- Club history, including roster history and the record of a club folding, rebranding, or changing owner.
- Your gamertag history.
- Any club application you submitted, including the free-text answers about why you wanted to join, other leagues you play in, and your management experience, along with any staff notes on it.
Our Privacy Policy sets out the underlying position on what we hold and for how long. Read the two together.
Backups
Our database provider takes daily backups and keeps them for seven days. Backups are snapshots: when staff change or remove information in the live database, snapshots taken before that change still contain the earlier version. So your information may stay in provider backups for a period after it has changed on the live platform.
These backups cover the database. They do not cover uploaded files such as avatars and club logos, or the underlying sign-in records. We do not restore backups to retrieve individual accounts — restoring a backup would be an emergency recovery action for the platform as a whole.
Timing, and cancelling a request
We do not promise a processing time. Requests are read and handled by hand by volunteer staff, and there is no automated pipeline behind this. We would rather say that plainly than publish a deadline we cannot keep.
You can cancel. If you change your mind, say so in the same Discord conversation. As long as staff have not yet carried out the request, it can be stopped and nothing changes. Once it has been carried out, we do not undo it — there is no grace period afterward and no restore.
If your circumstances have changed and you simply want a break, consider asking staff about stepping off a roster instead. That is reversible; closure is not.
Accounts for under-13s
UCA is for people aged 13 and over, and registration by anyone under 13 is not permitted. We do not collect a date of birth, so we cannot check this automatically.
If you believe an account belongs to someone under 13, contact staff on the official UCA Discord. A parent or guardian who believes their child under 13 has an account should do the same. Staff will review it case by case. If the account should not be here it is closed using the same manual process described on this page, with the same current limits on what can technically be removed.
Questions
If a closure request is refused, if you disagree with what was or was not changed, or if you have a question about anything on this page, raise it with staff on the official UCA Discord — it is the only contact channel we operate. Tell us what you asked for, what happened, and what outcome you are looking for.
For the wider picture on what we hold and why, see the Privacy Policy. For the terms your account is held under, see the Terms of Service. Closing your account does not end an open conduct review — see the Code of Conduct.
